VIDEO: Rep. Demmer Speaks to Unaffordable Expectations Built into Minimum Wage Bill

Yesterday in Springfield, members of the House of Representatives approved a minimum wage hike that adds significant budgetary pressures to the State of Illinois budget. Republican lawmakers, many of whom asked for the process to be slowed down so that concerns could be addressed, voted unanimously against the bill. Prior to the vote, State Representative Tom Demmer spoke about the additional pressures the minimum wage increase would place on the budget, and also on schools, social service providers, non-profits, healthcare providers and others that rely on state funding.
