Demmer Provides Legislative Update at Dixon Chamber Meeting

A full room of local business leaders gathered on Tuesday to hear a legislative update from State Representative Tom Demmer (R-Dixon) and ask questions of their elected Representative. Demmer spoke about the “mixed bag” of bills that were considered during the spring 2019 legislative session, and said while there were times of extreme partisanship, there were also several opportunities for bipartisanship.

Demmer spoke about the minimum wage bill, which was passed and signed into law with zero Republican support, but noted that bipartisan negotiations led to agreement on a full-year balanced budget, money set aside to pay down bills, key business reforms to make Illinois more competitive, and a capital bill that provides for significant investment in Illinois’ infrastructure.

After a brief presentation, Demmer took questions from audience members and encouraged the business leaders to utilize the resources his district office provides.
