Drug abuse, especially abuse involving opioids, is on the rise in Illinois. On Wednesday, October 9, State Representative Tom Demmer (R-Dixon) is partnering with the Rx Abuse Leadership Initiative of Illinois (RALI-IL), Code 3 Association, and the Pharmaceutical Research & Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) to bring the RALI CARES educational trailer to Sandwich High School.
RALI CARES Educational Trailer Tours
Wednesday, October 9
4:30 PM – 6:30 PM
Sandwich High School
515 Lions Road
The RALI CARES exhibit is a hands-on tour of a staged teenage bedroom, which allows parents and guardians to learn about possible warning signs of drug use and abuse. “The opioid crisis has affected nearly every Illinois community, and I am glad to host this informative event in Sandwich,” said Demmer. “By providing parents and guardians with the knowledge and tools they need to spot the red flags that often suggest drug use by a child, we can help fight this growing epidemic.”
The Wednesday evening event is for parents and guardians only. Experts will be available to guide adults through the trailer and educate them about the warning signs, potential areas of concern, and to answer questions that parents or caregivers may have.
“I hope to see a large turnout at this important event,” added Demmer. “As a community that cares for its youth, we must do all we can to keep drugs out of the hands of our young people, and we must tackle drug issues by being armed with knowledge and facts.”
